The Selangor Literacy project was an eight-month project supporting primary literacy and the learning of English in Malaysia’s Selangor state.
The project aimed to create a love of reading in primary school students, to support English teachers in their ability to teach reading and literacy skills, and to engage parents in encouraging their children to read and have fun learning English. This was achieved through a combination of teacher training, community events and the provision of high-quality storybooks.
Chris worked with project schools and partners to agree and plan our approach. The Selangor Literacy project was delivered by the British Council on behalf of HSBC, with the support of the Malaysian Ministry of Education.
