Thorn Learning designed, wrote and produced the British Council’s online course, Teacher well-being, a three‑hour self‑study training package and complementary workbook for teachers and teacher educators.
Project overview
Thorn Learning supported the TeachingEnglish open courses team developing, writing, building and quality assuring three self-study units, the core components of Teacher well-being, a digital open learning course for teachers. We also produced the supplementary workbook. Our team created new, globally relevant learning content and packaged the course in Articulate Rise for delivery via an eCom Scotland LMS (due for release in 2027).
How we worked with the client
Our team collaborated closely with the British Council TeachingEnglish open courses project manager throughout this project, from developing the concept and project plan, agreeing learning objectives to the development of storyboards, final builds and all related wrap-around content. Sangeeta Sathe (writer) worked with Zoë Tysoe (editor) on the module overview and storyboards, incorporating insights and experiences shared through TeachingEnglish social media channels from its global audience of language teachers. Chris Thorn produced the supporting audio and image assets and Jenny Bedwell, Rise360 builder, produced the final module prior to final quality assurance checks by Zoë Tysoe, ensuring the build met accessibility, style and brand standards.
In 2027, Thorn Learning (Chris) will support the courses’ delivery through his management of the Courses for teachers learning community (currently 100k+ members) where learners are helped to extend and apply learning within their own practice through live sessions, additional resources and daily discussions moderated by course tutors.
