ThornLearning supported the development and migration of digital teacher development content to Articulate Rise 360.

Following the successful delivery of a similar project (for the same organisation), our expanded team was delighted to support this second, larger iteration of the project, during which we delivered 150+ hours of accessible, interactive digital teacher development content – moving from a slide-based format to Articulate Rise 360.

Our team of writers and builders; Iman, Nelson, Nikki and Sangeeta, did this by:

  • Reviewing and updating legacy digital learning modules (in terms of content and suitability for a new authoring tool).
  • Ensuring alignment of content with stated learning aims.
  • Designing additional activities to reinforce and check learning.
  • Creating storyboards and supplementary glossary / further reading documents.
  • Building and testing 150+ individual units in Articulate Rise 360.

Zoë supported and oversaw the project as the editor and asset manager, providing feedback to the writing team and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality output that met client specifications.

Audio, video and images were adapted and upgraded with current branding, edited for optimal UX within the new authoring tool. Assets are supported with transcripts, closed caption (.vtt) files, alt-text and adherence to WCAG AA and AAA colour contrast standards.

The final modules, to feature within a global open learning programme, cover a diverse range of teacher development areas, including:

  • Assessment
  • Communication skills
  • Critical thinking
  • Digital literacy and citizenship
  • Gender representation and equality
  • Inclusive practice
  • Language systems (what they are and how to teach them); grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary
  • Lesson planning
  • Multilingualism
  • Online teaching
  • Resources for primary teaching
  • Safeguarding
  • Sustainability and environmental issues
  • The development of language skills; listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
