Thorn Learning developed the online course, ‘Focus on professional development’, by reviewing and reworking existing online teacher development modules, creating an up-to-date and globally relevant 9-hour training experience for an audience of English language teachers and teacher educators.
The final course, built in eXact and accessed from an eCom Scotland LMS, covers:
- Understanding professional development (3 x units)
- Engaging with professional development – reflective practice (3 x units)
- Engaging with professional development – Peer observation (3 x units)
In addition to building the modules, ThornLearning managed the LMS administration. Online learning content was supplemented by a social media-based online learning community and booklet, providing links to further learning content to extend, deepen and help course participants apply learning. Thorn Learning coordinated the learning community, training tutors, writing and producing additional digital learning content.
The course featured in the British Council’s 2022-23 open learning programme for teachers, a free series of courses for language teachers around the world. Learn more about the programme and upcoming courses.
