Colour wheels in Premiere Pro

Thorn Learning updated and expanded the British Council’s learner guidance video library, producing a new series of short instructional videos that help English language teachers navigate TeachingEnglish courses, social media communities and online learning opportunities.

Project overview

Building on two previous learner guidance projects, Thorn Learning was commissioned to update existing resources and create a new series of functional and pedagogical videos for the TeachingEnglish platform. The videos support teachers participating in online courses and engaging with TeachingEnglish communities and resources across the website, Facebook and YouTube.

The project extended a portfolio of learner support resources already developed by Thorn Learning, helping teachers access, navigate and get maximum value from professional development opportunities offered through TeachingEnglish.

How we worked with the client

Chris Thorn worked closely with the TeachingEnglish Open Learning team to plan, storyboard, design and produce the video assets. Existing resources were reviewed and updated where platform or content changes required revisions, while new videos were developed in response to learner needs identified through evaluations and consultancy reports.

The project involved:

  • Storyboarding and content development
  • Video production and editing
  • Asset creation and management
  • Review and quality-assurance cycles
  • Accessibility compliance
  • Preparation of platform-specific descriptions and supporting content
  • Delivery of editable source files alongside final video outputs

Thorn Learning also drew on extensive experience supporting TeachingEnglish communities and online courses, ensuring videos reflected authentic user journeys and common learner questions.
